Ashtanga Practice Tips

 

When to Practice

  • Four to 6 days per week. (Some students start out at 6 days a week right off the bat; others build up to it.)

  • Early morning is ideal.

  • Please arrive in class on time and complete your practice and depart by the class ending time.

  • No class on days of the new and full moon and major holidays.

What to Bring (and not)

  • Your own sticky mat

  • A cotton practice rug (optional)

  • Practice clothing that is laundered daily

  • As part of your yoga practice, kindly shower before class (if possible).

  • No scented products, please

  • Eating or drinking right before or during practice is not recommended.

Travel

  • Please consult the list of KPJAYI-approved teachers worldwide to find a suitable teacher to practice with when traveling.

  • Consider spending a month or two at KPJAYI in Mysore, India to deepen your practice.
